Case Study: Business Cases for a Crown Corporation

Metaphase Health Research Consulting Inc. writes business cases for executive management approval.

A BC Crown corporation required a business case to present to the Board for approval for a multi-million dollar renovation.

To initiate the project, Metaphase interviewed key individuals within the corporation to determine specific project requirements and to identify any inherent challenges. Metaphase reviewed project-related materials including site condition reports, building audits, hazardous materials audits, renovation feasibility study reports and functional programming documents.

Working closely with the project manager, Metaphase wrote businesses cases documenting the history of the building, highlighting key issues and deficiencies, illustrating the importance of the intended renovations, and justifying the funding request.

The development of the business case was an iterative process due to the changing scope of the renovation project. Metaphase maintained close communications with the project manager to ensure that all new information was incorporated into the business case.

The business case was approved, and the next phase of renovation is moving forward. Metaphase has been retained to complete additional documents for this project, and is currently writing a business case for the next renovation project.
